The background color for a plaque is one of the key decisions in making it one of a kind. A large majority of plaques use very standard colors as the background, but what if I want to go a little more outside of the box? What if the person I am memorializing loved hot pink or hunter green? Can I incorporate that on the plaque somehow? The answer is YES. We have 45 standard paint colors to choose from for your background. In addition to that, we can match any Pantone Color to fit your organization’s needs.

If you want to highlight a specific shape or logo on the plaque, we are able to do a multi-color paint finish on your plaque. Whether you want to see the metal finish on the raised areas or you want the whole plaque painted multiple colors, we can accomodate. With each plaque you get one color included in the cost and after that, each addition color is $70. Keep in mind that we cannot do multiple colors one one raised area. For example if you have a heart shape on your plaque, we could not paint one side blue and the other side red. There must be a raised or recessed line dividing each color from the next.

Unless you are wanting a more single tone plaque, be sure that the metal you are having the plaque created out of and the background color contrast enough for your words to be readable. For instance if you want a yellow background on a brass plaque, the contrast is going to be pretty low, but if you changed the metal to aluminum, you would be able to see the words more clearly. This is one of the reasons that colors like black or brown are chosen most often with all metals, because they provide the most contrast.

Sometimes a good thing to look at are the surroundings of where the plaque will be mounted. Are there certain colors or hues that you would like the plaque to convey? Or is the surface you are mounting it to a dark color, so you would like something brighter or contrasting that will help the plaque stand out? You are always welcome to send us a photo of where the plaque will be mounted and we can help advise you on your best options.

If you are still unsure of your color choice, you can always request a sample to be made. Most samples take a week or two to create and then we ship it to you at no charge.
